The ShowRunnerCLC™program has many features to simplify and streamline Crestron lighting control startups, reducing the amount of technical knowledge required and time spent on-site. Even so, there are a number of different software programs and tools required for a successful ShowRunnerCLC™ startup.

"Required" items are absolutely necessary for startup, while "Recommended" items are not strictly necessary but are good to have.

All ShowRunnerCLC™ Startups

Required:

  • Windows Laptop (Windows 10 recommended)
    • Internet access is required to generate and download the ShowRunnerCLC™ license on-site
      • Most cellphones can be used as hot spots for this purpose, but a dedicated hot spot is highly recommended
    • Laptop must have an RJ-45 Ethernet port or a suitable adapter (See our FAQ on configuring your network adapter settings)
  • Software:
  • Downloads:
  • Cables:
    • Cat5/Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cable (multiple cables and multiple lengths are recommended)
    • USB-A to USB-B cable (required for most devices; 15' minimum cable length recommended for jobs with GLPACs)
    • USB-A to Mini-B cable (required for RMC3 processors only)
    • USB-A to Micro-B cable (required for CEN-GWEXER, RMC4 processors, and some other devices)

Recommended:

  • Secondary device with internet access (e.g. tablet, second laptop, or cell phone) and remote access software (such as Splashtop or TeamViewer)
    • This allows you to "untether" yourself from the lighting network; your laptop stays connected to the lighting network, but is controlled via the remote access software on your second device
  • Remotes:
  • Hand Tools:
    • Standard Screwdriver (#1 and #2 Phillips, 1/4" and 3/16" Slotted)
    • Precision Screwdriver (2.5mm or 3/32" Slotted; for use with Phoenix Connectors)
    • Wire Stripper (standard Cresnet cable has both 18 AWG and 22 AWG stranded wires)
    • Bright flashlight or laser pointer (for testing photocells)
    • RJ-45 crimper + terminations (the EC should make these terminations, but oftentimes their tools are in poor condition and unsuitable for making good terminations)
  • Measurement devices:
    • Low-voltage Multimeter (continuity testing and low voltage DC measurements are frequently required for troubleshooting)
    • Ethernet Network Cable Tester (these are expensive, but useful for verifying Ethernet run lengths and terminations)
  • Software:
    • Chief Integrations Remote Help Tool (download from http://help.chiefintegrations.com/; requires internet access on-site to use)
    • SFTP client (such as FileZilla or WinSCP; required for ZUM-HUB4 deployments)
    • SSH client (such as PuTTY)
    • File archiver (such as 7-Zip or WinRAR)
    • IP scanning utility (such as Advanced IP Scanner)
    • DHCP server software (such as OpenDHCP or TFTPD64; or the built-in ShowRunnerCLC™ DHCP Server)

Zūm Wired Startups

Zūm Wired startups require all the items listed under "All Startups" plus the following:

Required:

  • Bluetooth-capable Android device with the Crestron Zūm app installed
    • The iOS Crestron Zūm app does not currently support Zūm Wired as of June 2022
    • Officially Android 5.0 is the minimum requirement, but Chief Integrations recommends Android 10.0 or higher
    • We have a short guide for using the Crestron Zūm App available here

DMX Startups

DMX startups require all the items listed under "All Startups" plus the following:

Required:

Recommended:

  • DMX Tester (e.g. a Swisson XMT-120A)
  • XLR adapters (3-pin male/female, 5-pin male/female, RJ-45, etc.)

DALI Startups

DALI startups require all the items listed under "All Startups" plus the following:
